The golf world is abuzz over Pinehurst Resort opening its first new golf course in nearly 30 years. Pinehurst No. 10, also know as Pinehurst Sandmines, was designed by Tom Doak and Angela Moser. According to Doak, some of the “most dramatic terrain in Pinehurst” can be found four miles south of the historic Pinehurst Resort Clubhouse with upwards of 75 feet of elevation change and panoramic views across the golf course and Moore County. KoontzJones Design was engaged by Pinehurst Resort to develop an overall master plan for the over 900-acre parcel, including a future second golf course, clubhouse/lodge, overnight cottages, a research area for golf industry equipment manufacturers, workforce housing and future residential development. KoontzJones Design will also provide landscape architectural services for these facilities. The golf course opened in spring of 2024, and the clubhouse facilities are set to open in 2025.
