Southern Pines Golf Club | Southern Pines, NC

Southern Pines Golf Club, established in 1906, is one of Donald Ross’s earliest original course designs. The golf course is situated on some of the most dramatic rolling terrain in the North Carolina Sandhills. In 2020, a developer in partnership with the owners of the Pine Needles Resort, purchased the golf course and hired architectKyle Franz to complete a full-scale restoration of the course. KoontzJones Design was engaged to develop a master plan for theClubhouse area, including a redesign of the entrance drive and drop-off, along with the addition of a 12-bedroom lodge and nine8 and 4-bedroom cottages. The cottages are located near the clubhouse, clustered around a large ‘Himalaya-style’ putting green, with views of the 1st hole and overlooking the practice range. KoontzJones Design provided architectural visioning concepts of the cottages, expressing a unified vision for the project and a guide for the development of the real estate product.
